Discerning Success: Identity, Change & Career with Elizabeth Rowe
Thursdays April 3rd - May 22nd
8 - 9:30pm ET
“I read and walked for miles at night along the beach, writing bad blank verse and searching endlessly for someone wonderful who would step out of the darkness and change my life. It never crossed my mind that that person could be me.”
- Anna Quindlen, Living Out Loud
Course description
Join Not Sorry and Elizabeth Rowe for a transformative program that helps professionals redefine success, navigate change, and confidently step into their next professional chapter. Through guided exercises, thought-provoking readings, and engaging group discussions, you will gain clarity, courage, and insight into how to create a life and career you love.
Many voices tell us who or what we need to be — voices from outside in the world and from within us. Together we will work to quiet that noise. You will have full permission to explore your own unique paths, callings and desires. You will be invited to let go of old stories, consider new possibilities, and determine what you want success to look like in the next phase of your work life.
Whether we like it or not, our work can sometimes start to feel like who we are, not just what we do. And yet, we know that to be in the world is to always be in a state of change. As we grow and evolve in both our personal and professional lives, we’ll look at ways to help ourselves navigate — or instigate — necessary change. You’ll learn how to accompany, encourage, and inspire yourself as you shape your next professional chapter.
Whether you are considering a career transition, wondering where you want to be in twenty years, or are wanting to be more grounded in where you are now, this space is for you.
Elizabeth will guide you through a series of readings, exercises, facilitated discussion and conversation. You will walk away with a clearer vision for your future, a deeper commitment to your own fulfillment, and the steps to get you there.
By the end of this 8-week program, you will:
Define success on your own terms, free from external pressures and outdated narratives
Navigate change, uncertainty, and transitions with greater understanding and confidence
Identify steps for your next professional chapter which are aligned with your unique values, desires, and goals

Elizabeth Rowe - Instructor - she/her
This program will be led by Elizabeth Rowe, former principal flutist of the world-renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra, trailblazing equal pay advocate, and leadership coach. Elizabeth's bold professional choices — and the bumpy, sometimes terrifying, and often exhilarating path she has created as she defines success and excellence for herself — continue to reverberate in ways both public and private. Those experiences now serve as a touchstone for her work with leaders and other successful professionals, where she helps them to create lives and careers that are aligned and intentional.
After her landmark equal pay lawsuit in 2018, the Boston Globe honored her as a Bostonian of the Year, calling her “The Fighter.” Her TEDx talk The Lonely Onlys shares lessons learned from so often being the only woman in the room. Working at the intersection of professional and personal development, Elizabeth's coaching practice supports highly committed individuals across all industries as they learn to thrive in demanding work environments and successfully navigate career or personal transitions.
